Day 209 ~ Ducks in a Row

Day 208 ~ Elixir of Life

My mom had a huge bag of pomegranates that were so beautiful that I knew they'd make a gorgeous heart. This is yesterday's heart, so I still owe one for today, which will be posted later, after our vegan buffet dinner.

Day 207 ~ Found made Heart and more

Yesterday was a full day of seeing dear friends I haven't seen in a while. By the time I got home, I went straight to bed and fell right to sleep, only to discover this AM that I had neglected to post my heart. So here are yesterday's hearts (you get two) that are both found.

This heart was found in my sister's apartment.  I made it for her for Christmas a couple years ago. It's hand embroidered and the sequins are hand sewn onto the fabric.

These hearts were outside the cute restaurant my friend Julie and I had lunch at. They are bike racks! There are bike racks all over Long Beach of different shapes, but these were by far the best.

I still owe a heart for today, but will not be able to post it until tomorrow as I will not be around a computer. So tomorrow expect two as well :)

Day 204 ~ You Can't Evict and Idea!

I met Thomas and Noah at Zuccotti Park today. It was my first visit to the park post eviction, and I have to say I was so happy to see that the park was filled with people. Contrary to what you might hear in the news, this is not over, far from it. The park felt much like before except without the tents... there was boxes of donated food, working groups and teach-ins going on, a knitting circle and some people even managed to get a couple blankets inside the double barricades past the private security force posted at the only entrance. Here are some of the highlights...

Today's heart was created at the painting area:

The drummers managed to get their drums in:

And the highlight of the day, a wedding:

Day 202 ~ Happy Birthday OWS!

Tonight marked the 2 month anniversary, or birthday, of Occupy Wall Street. There was a HUGE march, with unions, and a mass strike of students. The papers said there were thousands of us. Yeah, 30,000. As we were marching over the Brooklyn Bridge, we saw a huge projection on the side of a perviously hideous building. This inspired me to make my own home made projection, though not on the side of a building, on a wall in my house.

Day 200 ~ Nothing Shall Extinguish The Flame

Tonight's heart was inspired by the unbelievable straight, courage, and optimism of the Occupiers of Wall Street. Zuccotti was suddenly, with no warning, violently evicted last night at 1am. After a very long night, a day waiting on the outcome of a battle in court, and a day of marching, the Occupiers were back in Zuccotti in time to hold the nightly General Assembly meeting. Despite ALL of their belongings stolen and trashed, the working groups were able to announce that the kitchen was reopened, though two blocks south of the park now, the Medical Team was stationed in the middle of the park and available to see patients,  and that anyone who needed a place to stay they had sleeping arrangements for 300 people for that night. Amazing.

Day 194 ~ Fun with a New Toy

Thomas brought back, from his parent's garage, this cool ruler with all kinds of features to make all kinds of different shapes. It was fun to play with. This is my first (well actually my third) try at it. I have a hunch you'll see many more of these in the near future :)

Color pens on paper.

Day 193 ~ We Say Fight Back

When I was at Zuccotti Park last week, someone was handing out strips of this orange netting. People had this netting tied around their hats, on their sleeves, on their boots, it seemed to be everywhere. I decided to put mine on my backpack. It looks very much like the netting used by the police to kettle people in before performing mass arrests... hmmmm...

Day 192 ~ Your HEART in Lights

Collage made from a magazine and placed on felt. Bonus points for the person who can name the magazine. Hint, it's from the cover.

Day 187 ~ Plastic Wrap

Today's heart is inspired by my new friend in daily heart making, Ellen.

Plastic straps and staples

You know, come to think of it, maybe the March Against Police Brutality was a subconscious inspiration for yesterday's heart... maybe....
